Help, Dear Reader!

Help, Dear Reader!

This week we learned that Xchyler Publishing’s 2015 Steampunk short story anthology will feature a new nugget in my “A Midsummer Night’s Steampunk” universe. Yay, right?

Why didn’t I tell you the name of the story and the name of the book? Good question!

The titles of both the anthology and the story are still up in the air. The anthology won’t receive a name until well into the editing process, when the overall flavor of the anthology becomes clear.

The story title is subject to editorial and authorial ambivalence and arm wrestling. It had a working title which the wise and good folks at Xchyler don’t care for. And that’s where you come in:

Help me name a Steampunked Cinderella story set on the island of Zanzibar, off the coast of East Africa? Zulu princess and the Sultan’s son. Sindisiwe & Ali.

I will send you an ecopy of the anthology when it’s published if I use your suggestion–or even if it leads me in the right direction.

  1. Simon Tanner says:

How about basing it round the first cathedral ever built in East Africa, est 1870:

Name one of the characters Chitambo after the tree used to make the cross from the Livingstone story.

Name the other one after the real life Zanzibar Sultan Barghash – maybe a prince of the same name.

Prince Barghash and the Girl from Chitambo

The girl who stole Livingstone’s heart and gave it to a prince

    you get my drift.
